  • Yeah, HOAs suck. But why do we swear on a bible in the courthouse but can't have a manger on the lawn? Nobody has to swear on a bible (or "so help me god"). I don't even think the opportunity is offered much anymore. Politicians being sworn in can swear on anything (or nothing) they want.

  • Wouldn't it be against the Constitution to allow Sharia other than in Muslim communities? No law in any community overrides the constitution. I know Britain has it in the Muslim communities

  • tesla013, I asked about manger scenes because it is my belief that that is not separation of church and state but separation of state and a christmas ornament. Calling it the endorsement of religion is simply hairsplitting to reach a desired goal.

  • The issue is whether someone can use religious freedom to break these laws and, apparently, they can. No, they can't. No religious belief/freedom/practice can trump the US laws.

  • I was never forced to pray, that merely is hysteria provided by the liberal to inflame, nothing more. Obviously you haven't read some of the accounts here and other places where children where ostracized for not participating in the school prayer.

  • But how many freedoms must we eliminate how much of the individual do we outlaw? None. Any individual is free to pray whenever they want to. Forcing one's religious beliefs or practices on another is not a freedom that has been eliminate, rather the opposite is a freedom that has been gained.

  • And frankly does saying a prayer in school threaten you that much? Why should anyone be forced to say a prayer? Whether they believe it or not, why force it? What a shame. A small prayer is nothing more...
